OAK DWELLERS
After a successful debut in early 2025, more “Oak Dwellers” are exhibiting and available this June at Vashon Center for the Arts. Carved from solid oak by Mike Leavitt - salvaging fallen branches from a local Garry oak savannah - these life-size sculptures depict species native to the Garry oak tree.
These carvings are stained and painted with enamel to withstand minimal outdoor weathering, not for sustained exposure to annual rainfall. Each includes the rough-hewn oak log pictured here for mounting & display. Mike is available to make more like these.
